Anti Ragging


This is for the information of the students of the Cotton University Campus, that ragging is any act of physical or mental abuse (including bullying and exclusion) targeted at another student (fresher or otherwise) on the ground of colour, race, religion, caste, ethnicity, gender (including transgender), sexual orientation, appearance, nationality, regional origins, linguistic identity, place of birth, place of residence or economic background.

Ragging is a cognizable offence and is banned in any form inside & outside the University campus.

If any student is found abetting or indulging in any form of ragging, he or she will attract one or any combination of the following punishments:

  • Cancellation of admission
  • Suspension/expulsion from the hostel;
  • Rustication from the Institution for a period ranging from 1 to 4 semesters;
  • Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution for a specified period;
  • Fine ranging between Rs. 25,000/- to Rs. 1 Lakh;
  • Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges;
  • Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits;
  • Debarring from appearing in any test/examination or other evaluation process;
  • Withholding of results;
  • Debarring from representing the institution in any regional, national or international meet, tournament, youth festival, etc.
  • Collective punishment: When the persons committing or abetting the crime of ragging are not identified, the institution shall resort to collective punishment.
