Ph. D Courses

All the departments of this university offer PhD courses in vivid contemporary research areas. Admission to the Ph.D. program is open to candidates who qualify NET or the Entrance examination conducted by the University. However, the candidate must have 55% marks or equivalent grades (50% marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST candidates) in Master’s degree from any UGC recognized University. The applicants qualifying in the written entrance examination are to appear in a viva voce cum counselling session to be selected finally. The selected students are to complete a coursework which consists of three 4 credit and one 2 credit course in a semester.

In addition to compulsory courses such as Research Methodology, Research Ethics, a student has to choose an elective course from a pool of diverse topics that can help the student to understand his/her research problem. A student after qualifying the coursework is provisionally registered as a Ph.D. scholar under the supervision of a faculty member. Candidates provisionally registered for Ph.D. degree can apply for final registration within 18-24 months from the date of admission if the Research Advisory committee is satisfied with the progress of his work. The Ph.D. registration remains valid for a period of five years but can be extended up to seven years under special circumstances.
